Working hard

Hey Mom,

This week was really great! Yep, we had our Baptisms and I did the baptizing! Also, we had 4 other investigators come to church.  It was amazing! All of our hard work is paying off.  My area is very good.

So, for Mother's day, we got a member to let us their smartphone so we can Skype! It will probably be in the evening here.

I love you all so much!

Love, Elder Seanshine Keddington

I'm pretty sure this is a record short letter, but I'm just always happy to hear from him.  I was able to find a picture of him taken this morning after p-day basketball (he's loving being close to the MTC/Temple compound with it's nice basketball facilities!)  I love that even though he is on the other side of the world, I can see that great smile from this morning!

He did send a couple of pictures that someone took of him baptizing the young man he spoke of, David, but you aren't supposed to take pictures of the ordinance.  I'll put one up that looks like it was right after.  (Not sure about the bars)  I can't wait to talk to him on Mother's Day!

A Wonderful Meeting

Jeff and Janet were able to attend the homecoming of Elder Barfuss this past Sunday.  He is in their stake and they were able to make connection with his family.  They were so impressed by this young man!  To us, he is a hero.  He was the perfect trainer for Sean.  He was able to guide him into a life that was very different than what Sean had known.  He was able to help him through his homesickness in a very gentle and effective way.  I know that Sean counts him as one as his very best friends and we are so very grateful for him.

In his homecoming address, he talked about how tough it was to go from the first world country to a third world country, but has found that the transition back has been even more difficult.  It has been very hard to him to see people here taking comforts for granted.  He witnessed a "fit" by a child who was angry that there were pickles on his hamburger when he didn't want pickles.  Elder Barfuss could only think of the kids in Ghana who are often wondering where their next meal would come from.  He also saw a teen very upset because the phone store didn't have the right color phone case.  We have very much become a nation of wants - not needs.  Something I believe that we all can work on.

Jeff and Janet look forward to visiting more with this great guy and will, no doubt, help facilitate some visits from Sean when he gets home.

Hi Mom,

Well another week down. We had a very good week. We are working with 3 main investigators who are getting baptized this Sunday. Two women, Abigail and Florence who are in their 30's.  They are good friends.  Also, a 14 year old boy named David.  Besides that not much else going on.  That's actually quite a bit going on!

I met Elder Curtis of the Seventy at church yesterday.  He is a really nice man. Can you believe that next month will be one year since I got my call. It feels like not that long ago.

The city is very good and we are biking a ton.  I would say at least 4 miles each day, so when we get home each night we are ready to crash. Mission life is going well right now.  I can't complain at all.
We are going to try and skype you on Mother's Day.  I will call you ahead to let you know when I'll be on.
Here are some pictures of Lartebiokorshie:

Hey, I love you mom!  I pray for you every day.  Please let everyone at home know how much I love them.

Love Elder Seanshine Keddington

I adore this kid - I just can't wait until he realizes that I want to see pictures of him!  Can't wait to actually see and talk to him in a few weeks!

Lots of work

Hi Mom!,

An Awesome Week!  Plenty of work and reward! We taught tons of lessons this week! We are biking a ton and I'm becoming stronger.

Elder Friday is awesome.  He is so much better than Samuel. He is kind and he encourages rather than criticizes.  He is an awesome missionary.  We are working hard each day and this week it payed off.   We got a baptism, the 4th one I've been involved in!  It was for a man named Eric in his 30s.  Coming up on the 24th, we have about 3 baptisms scheduled, so that would be unbelievable.

I am doing good.  I am loving everyone in my apartment.  I have nothing to complain about.  We went and played basketball today with about 20 Elders. It was a ton of fun.

I know my emails are short, but every time I write my mind goes kinda blank.  With all the changes you mentioned, it will be interesting to see how home looks when I get there.  I probably won't even recognize it.

I love you guys with all my heart!
Love,  Elder Seanshine Keddington

7 Months!

Hi Mom!

Greetings from Lartebiokorshie! So my week went like this:

Monday: We said goodbye to the members and we emailed. Not much happened, except Elder Samuel said to thank God for this transfer because he was rid of me. Honestly I didn't care. Ummm - grrr!

Tuesday:  We got packed and Elder Samuel left first and then I got picked up.  When I arrived at the new apartment, I couldn't believe my eyes!  The apartment is huge!  It's two floors.  We have couches and it's just massive. I met my companion Elder Friday from Nigeria.  So far he's pretty cool.  Elder Fryar, who we met at the airport, is also in my apartment.  We talk sports all day.  They took me to tour area and I found out we are on the beach! I went to the ocean.

As for the rest of the week, just missionary work.  I mean - we have to squeeze it in somewhere.  Haha!  We have a baptism this week, so we are excited for that.

I can finally send pictures because, I GOT MY CAMERA!  Yay!!  Uploading is being slow, but I got some pics up. We got to watch Sunday morning conference live.  My favorite talk was about fathers by D. Todd Christofferson. Tell Dad and Bampa how much I love them.

I love you with all my heart. more pictures on the way!

Love,
Elder Seanshine Keddington

Seriously - the ONLY picture with him in it and he's looking down!
